HOT news: Birds in art exhibit!!!

“Before the Storm” was accepted at the 2022 Birds in Art juried show at the Woodson Art Museum. Birds in Art is recognized around the world as the exhibition that sets the standard for avian art. The show in Wasau WI aw wonderful, and I had a chance to meet many of my artistic heroes.

This is an acrylic painting of a belted kingfisher perched on one of the beautiful metal fish sculptures at the Edmonds waterfront, near Seattle WA. The bird was intently looking for unsuspecting prey, as an ominous and dark summer storm was rolling behind. The afternoon light and dramatic contrast gave me a perfect excuse to portray the original public art work of Buster Simpson. I painted transparent layers of acrylic on a smooth illustration board to convey the luminosity and magic of my home neighborhood.
