Alejandro and his friend the Spectacled Owl
About
Well over 30 years ago, I took a course in scientific illustration during my senior Biology year at University Simon Bolivar (Caracas). My wife registered me in the course without telling me about it, but I loved it! The course was focused on dry brush watercolors, which use very little water and opaque colors over smooth white paper. I have continued uninterrupted ever since. My art works in watercolors, gouache, ink, and acrylics depict the spectacular birds, plants and landscapes of the tropics, while also exploring the beauty of the Pacific North West. I have published over 30 illustrations in books, calendars, posters, postage stamps, and limited edition prints. My art has been exhibited in galleries in Caracas, Miami, Chicago, Seattle and New York.
